history:

the illegitimate child of a french military man and japanese servant woman, young fifi was shunned by the people around her. Her father locked her away in their mansion, unclear as if to protect her or hide away his shame. Her mother was the only loving source fifi had during her childhood. Her mother would tell her stories of the land from which she came from and would make her japanese toys, her favorite of which is the paper balloon(its so simple yet so fun). With her mother, young fifi was content and happy. When she was 8, her mother died of typhoid fever. With no one to be by her side, the disgusted glances and unnerving whispers finally got to her. She soon developed a dettached and dreamy facade but inside, she had a goal she would do anything to achieve-- she would travel to the land where her mother came from, japan.

She follows in her fathers military footsteps despite her being a woman which she put to good use to get what she wants. She gets her own ship and crew, whom she gets very close to like family, and decides to leave france(without superior consent) and go to Japan. They finally arrive in the ibaraki prefacture. As the japanese are not very fond of foreigners, Joey(what she wants her crew to call her, she will punish anyone who calls her fifi) and her crew are helped by a famous doll maker named Saya who discovers them while she was "looking for inspiration" and hides them away in her mansion.

Joey and her crew, severed from the military leash, eventually become more relaxed and a bit more rowdy. It wouldn't be strange if they suddenly become pirates lol. Japan is inhabited by hundreds of strong warriors and Joey's been thirsting for some action. She joins the Samurai Duelers League in hopes that her feisty desires be satisfied.
